Best RPGs on PS5 2022 The best role-playing games on PlayStation 5

It’s no secret that PlayStation is home to some of the best RPG franchises in the world. As we go through the life cycle of the PS5, the game library keeps getting even better. With so many unannounced titles in the bag, the best days of the PS5 are yet to come, but there’s no shortage of immersive RPGs on the platform currently.

A role-playing game or RPG is a type of game in which you are tasked with making decisions for your character. Choices accompany dialogue, major story-changing decisions, and progress by honing a certain skill set for an RPG experience. Read on to learn about the best RPGs for PS5.

1. Demon’s Souls

“You’re dead” is a term that Souls genre fans are well accustomed to, and that’s rightly so, thanks to the above-average difficulty that Souls games bring to the table. Many are still in the dark about the origins of the genre, but in 2009 it was Demon’s Spirit that more or less founded the genre.

Longtime fans rejoiced as Sony announced the Demon Souls remake for PS5. The hard work of Bluepoint games has resulted in a flawless 60 fps performance mode that looks better than any other Souls game so far.

Be prepared to fight some of the toughest bosses you’ll face in a video game. Gamers fond of a challenge should definitely try this highly rewarding game.

2. Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red tarnished the reputation built by their work on The Witcher 3 by releasing an unfinished game as Cyberpunk 2077. First announced in May 2012, Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most anticipated titles of all time.

Plagued by game-breaking bugs, Cyberpunk hasn’t lived up to its hype. In fact, Sony even pulled it from the PlayStation Store. However, CD Projekt Red took it upon themselves to fix the game. Slowly, they pushed out frequent updates which greatly improved the game. In 2022, they launched the next-gen patch for the PS5 and Xbox series consoles, which fixed all the bugs.

In its current state, the game is incredibly fun to play with an exciting story. The Night City, simply put, is beautiful to explore. The NPC’s AI still might not be the best, but the overall futuristic vibe, excellent gun animation, and great voice-acting make this RPG a must-play on PS5. We recommend playing in Performance mode at 30 fps Ray Tracing mode for a smoother, less taxing experience.

3. Tales of Arise

For RPG connoisseurs, the Tales of the Series has been a reliable go-to for excellent RPGs for decades, with highlights like Tales of Vesperia. Tales of Aries can be considered part of the upper echelons of the long-running franchise, with its engaging story and characters and rewarding gameplay. Micro-transactions can be a bit much for some players, which is why it’s not high on this list, but at least they’re optional.

Set in two worlds, Tales of Arise follows a storyline where the planet Rina has taken over the planet Dahna. Elfen, a Dahna native, and Shion, a Rayna citizen, work together to travel to Dahna and free the planet from the oppressive hold of its various lords.

Along the way, you’ll encounter tons of other characters, slay tons of monsters and even learn the meaning of friendship as you try to unite these warring worlds.

4. Tales of Arise

Although it is the seventeenth main entry in the Tales series, Tales of Arise is the first to be released simultaneously worldwide. The game follows a man and a woman from different worlds. They begin a quest to end the oppression of the Renan people by combustion.

Like previous games in the franchise, Tales of Aries is an action RPG, albeit with a linear motion battle system. The game’s combat focuses on survival and combat. Fans can find the game on PS5, as well as PC and Xbox consoles.

5. Elden Ring

FromSoftware’s latest title has been the studio’s biggest success. Elden Ring has gone mainstream more than any other FromSoftware title, and this open-world game is a blast from start to finish.

Elden Ring may sound daunting, but patient players who learn the combat system will soon know why the game is in a class of its own. Of course, the other pillars of Elden Ring’s gameplay are pretty neat in their own right, whether it’s open-ended exploration, character customization options, or boss battles.
