Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 tips and tricks

Here are our Call of Duty: Modern Warfare tips and tricks for beginners and experts alike to improve your multiplayer gameplay.

This week, gamers from all over the world are rushing to download Season 2 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Season 2 officially launches today on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, bringing with it a new Battle Pass, mods, free maps, and tons of other content.

Now, a pro-gamer has revealed his top tips and tricks for the new season of the popular Amge.

YouTube gamer Marlethertine has over 500,000 subscribers and has followed the Call of Duty franchise over the years.

1. Play the objective

Rather than focusing on getting the most kills, Marley Thirteen suggests that players should only aim to play.

He said: “With a variety of game modes on offer each one often has a different objective and the team most likely to win will focus on completing the goal. Need to catch or hold down a hardpoint spot to make sure you’re doing your job for the team.

“Familiarize yourself with the different objectives that these modes offer and try to focus on them as much as possible. Most teams will have a player who isn’t playing the objective, don’t be that guy!”

2. Battle Royale

Call of Duty’s take on the increasingly successful battle royale genre is no different than anything like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. It’s a few-versus-many scenario, but it’s never been so realistic. Players can be brought back from the dead, and you can buy ammo and other accessories from buy stations spread across the country, carrying popular elements from Fortnite and Apex Legends. In this mode, all weapons from the recent three COD games can be used.

A new map called Caldera was added, replacing Verdansk, which had been in the game from the beginning. It’s unclear if Verdansk will return, but it’s likely we haven’t seen the last of it. It is possible that Verdansk will be implemented in the sequel, Warzone 2.0, due out in 2022.

3. Familiarize yourself with the weapons

This may sound blatantly obvious, but it is something that needs to be said. Familiarizing yourself with the weapons in Warzone is one of the most important aspects of the entire operation. Not knowing the difference between the G-43 and the Type 100 could easily cost you a fight—and a fight is all that separates you from being booted back to the main menu.

Currently, Warzone has over 160 weapons, including assault rifles, SMGs, LMGs, shotguns, snipers, and handguns or launchers. Find out which weapon best suits your style and learn how each one handles and operates. However, with an ever-increasing assortment of weapons, you’ll need to keep up with them over and over again to stay ahead. It’s no good getting the drop on another player if you expect a barrage of bullets to just take a potshot and blast down the trigger.

4. Adjust Sensitivity and Aim Assist

Besides making sure your screen and audio settings are correct, the two biggest in-game settings to adjust are sensitivity — how fast or slow your operator looks — and aiming assist, or the built-in system that allows a weapon to hit the target.

Helps you target. Those new to and playing with controllers should try Focusing Aim Assist if the standard, which is on by default, is difficult. As for sensitivity, it’s best to test out a few different horizontal and vertical settings to see what you’re comfortable with.

Can you make very minor subtle adjustments using your controller or mouse? Try higher sensitivity. Feel like you’re turning too fast? Then crank it up to the low single-digits.

5. Take the drive to Enlisted Rank 55

When you first start multiplayer, you’ll be limited to the default loadout, a few killstreaks, and two field upgrades.

However, as you play the game and gain experience for both your operator and weapons, you’ll be able to further customize loadouts and more to your playstyle.

Once you reach the enlisted rank 55, continue ranking until you have a complete arsenal at your disposal.

Experimentation may equal success. Don’t be afraid to try out a new weapon, killstreak, field upgrade, or even an attachment. Who knows? Stepping out of your comfort zone can help you step up your game and go a step further in finding an epic winning streak.

Controller Settings

Getting the right settings to help you get the best out of your game means setting yourself up with the right button layout and sensitivity.

If you play the slow game and opt to use weapons like rifles and LMGs, I recommend lowering your sensitivity; This is to improve your accuracy. If you’re a fast and furious player who likes to get up close and personal with the enemy, I recommend increasing your sensitivity; This is to speed up how fast you can turn and catch multiple players quickly. Most likely I’ll increase my horizontal wand sensitivity so that I can sharpen a bit without compromising too much accuracy.

I also recommend changing your layout to Tactical so you can dropshot with right thumb click. This is even more useful in Modern Warfare as there are far fewer melee opportunities than in previous Call of Duty games.
