black female characters in anime 2022

Growing up as a little black girl who loved anime, I was raised on classic shows like Sailor Moon, Yuyu Hakusho, and Dragon Ball Z, but I’ve always wanted a black woman in some of those shows. who looked like me. It’s only natural that you want to see yourself reflected and represented in something you love.

However, anime doesn’t always hit the mark when it comes to giving fair representation to other minorities. Especially when it comes to black characters. When there is a black character, let alone a black woman in anime, I am usually happy if they are not a racist stereotype. He’s asking for the bare minimum.

Luckily the representation for black characters in anime has improved a lot since I was a kid. I especially love that there are more black female characters in anime now. Even though there aren’t many of them, I still get excited whenever I even catch a glimpse of a black female character in an anime that I enjoy.

1. Casca – Berserk

Kaska is probably one of my earliest introductions to black women in anime. Beginning in Fearless he is one of the strongest and most capable leaders in the mercenary group, Band of the Falcons.

Even though not fans of the direction her character development has taken over the years, she still holds a special place in my heart. I especially like that he is a great leader to his teammates and it very rarely calls into question his good judgment and strategy.

2. Canary – HunterXHunter

Last and certainly not least is the Canary from Hunter x Hunter. Canary is a young teenage girl who is also a brutal bodyguard/servant for the Zoldik family, a powerful and fearful family of assassins. He has a very good gait in battle, but he also has a very gentle and caring heart. Loves how loyal he is to those who care and is even willing to go against orders if it means helping them.

3. Yoruichi Shihoin (Bleach)

I can’t possibly include Yoruichi from Bleach without mentioning her to the list of black women in anime. She was born into a wealthy aristocratic family and has the title of princess, but doesn’t act like one.

She is tough, quick and witty, and she kicks butt in a lot of fights. I admire her demeanor and the way she can look cool, but instantly turns into a ferocious warrior when needed.

4. Carole Stanley (Carole & Stanley)

Carol Stanley is a hardworking girl trying to survive in Alba City by working several part-time jobs. His dream is to become a musician and he is very talented in this field. However, his way of dealing with the adversary does not allow him to work on the estimated time due to this behavior. She is determined and passionate about her dream. She is a beautiful, strong and tireless woman.

5. Choi Mochimazzi

She has some very different hairstyles with trinkets all over her hair and the length of the hair is a medium like a bob cut, let’s all say.

Choi chooses to walk barefoot with conservative style clothes because she loves her culture and doesn’t want to change because the world is changing.

Her most striking feature is her stunning magenta eyes. In those eyes there is a gleam of pearls in the moonlight.

He has a loving demeanor and is constantly eager to repay obligations. He is a good person. However, she can be secretive when she is worried about someone.

6. Casca – Berserk

Kaska is a fearsome woman who can lead mercenaries and wield blades with the dexterity of a man. If anyone wants someone who wants to be a great leader, he has to be cold hearted because to make decisions you have to think with your mind, and that’s what makes Kaska a great leader. But still, some of her peers ask questions about her leadership and judgment, which is outrageous, to be honest.

However, beneath the outer layer is a woman who aspires to be both a warrior and a woman. Kaska has hair in a pixie cut. Her face is almost angelic, but sad eyebrows kill it.

7. Coffee – Cowboy Bebop

She is not just an ordinary anime girl, and she is one of the best and most awesome bounty hunters in anime. She has a toned figure and is tall and slim. Coffee, like everyone else, has Afro hair and brown eyes.

The anime is on the Netflix anime series, and trust me, and you’ll love him and the many characters from Cowboy Bebop.

She favors the grenade launcher when it comes to bounty hunting. Coffee maintains its femininity and grace, despite its dangerous job. She is one of several Afro-haired anime characters.

8. Michiko Milandro – Michiko to Hatchin

She is not a very calm person because she has a problem with temper tantrums, and if you make her angry she may lash out at you. Trust me, and he is capable of harming you or even killing you.

She enjoys flaunting her physique by being tall, attractive and breathtaking.

Despite his fiery temper and conflict nature, the main character is sympathetic and loving. Although she likes to showcase her toughness, she provides the idea of being tough to hide who she really is on the inside.

9. Casca – Berserk

Kaska is probably one of the first anime characters to feature a black woman. He is one of the fiercest and most capable leaders in the mercenary band.

Although critics have criticized her character’s path over the years, she has an important place on the show.

People like him because he is a great leader for his teammates. No one questions his solid vision and strategy.

10. Yoruichi Shihoin – Bleach

Among the many black female anime characters, Yoruichi stands out. The alumnus body secretary is an Afro-Latin who appears in the mecha series Eureka Seven. She is both fierce and beautiful. Besides Yoruchi, there are many other popular black female anime characters as well.

These women show that anime can be more realistic than fiction. If you’re looking for a variety anime character, check out the recommendations above.
