Best Multiplayer RPGs Of All Time, Ranked

RPGs have one of the most loyal followings of any gaming genre. Whether it’s Final Fantasy or World of Warcraft, people spend dozens (sometimes hundreds, or even thousands) of hours crafting characters, playing out stories, and enjoying themselves.

RPGs were also one of the first genres to really make it to Android and there are a ton of them to choose from.

Here are the best RPGs for Android. Please note, we will be dealing with jRPG and “standard” action RPG. We link to the different types of RPG sub-genres below.

1. Warframe

Warframe is a free-to-play third-person action game that will mark its 10th anniversary in 2023. The game’s setting is a beautiful blend of horror and science fiction elements, with players rapidly moving through its corridors and environments.

Customization is the name of the game with Warframe, with tons of upgrade paths and loadout options unlocked as you spend time in the game, allowing you to further customize the experience however you want

. The game has survived as long as it has for a reason: Developer Digital Extremes has worked to develop a strong relationship with its dedicated player base.

2. Torchlight II

Back in 2009, developer Runic Games gave dungeon crawler a spark of new life in the form of Torchlight—a colorful action-RPG, both fun and satisfying to play.

It was a finely tuned example of the genre, undoubtedly due to a creative team that included pre-Diablo 2 devs. A sequel followed in 2012, competing directly with the might of Diablo 3.

It’s a testament to the appeal of the series that it managed to hold its own against the ruler of the dungeon creeping Roost. Torchlight II now arrives on consoles in the wake of its studio’s untimely demise and at a time when Loot Pinata’s popularity is waning.

Developers Panic Button has given us a capable, no frills port. The visuals don’t quite shine on the larger display, but the warm atmosphere is still a refreshing departure from the gloom of its peers.

3. Terraria

Imagine what Minecraft might be like if it were built with pixel art sprites and released in the SNES era. It sums up the overall vibe of Terraria very well. \

It also explains why I can’t seem to wean myself off the darn thing. This devious little indie sandbox title borrows so many ideas from Notch’s game that it’s essentially Minecraft in 2D, but it also enhances familiar gameplay in exciting ways.

There are too many creepy creepers to kill, and the staggering number of doodads that you can slay MacGyver with a slew of deadly weapons is mouth-watering. say what will you do; There’s some damning fun in these unknown depths.

4. CYBERPUNK 2077

To say that was a bit of a rocky trajectory of cyberpunk would be an understatement. CDProjekt Red’s massive cyberpunk RPG has great potential, as we noted in our Cyberpunk 2077 review, but its first year was a tough one.

Good news though, it’s finally over and the game is finally ready to take its place in our collection of top RPGs. You play as the highly customizable protagonist V, a mercenary outlaw tasked with chasing down a one-of-a-kind implant that may hold the key to immortality.

You explore the sprawling metropolis Night City, meeting a whole range of bizarre characters as you embark on countless main and side quests. Once you sample the delights of the city to your heart’s content, you can check out some Cyberpunk 2077 mods to make things even better.

5. Titanfall 2

“Titanfall 2” was ignored at the time of release. Other FPS heavy hitters including “Battlefield One” and “Call of Duty Infinite Warfare” surfaced around the same time, which severely hampered sales (per GameSpot).

But the real shame is how a good game like “Titanfall 2” is still capped. Compared to other FPS titles, “Titanfall” differs in its use of mech and wall-running abilities. Fully implemented in both campaign and online multiplayer.

Going back and forth between walking and safely wielding an almighty titan keeps things engaging and encourages players to master all play styles.

You’d think “Titanfall 2” would have trouble balancing these two halves of gameplay, but the solid design lifts it up in the air. As noted by Easy Allies, its maps encourage both types of play.
