PUBG 15.2 update: New tactical drone feature explained in details

PUBG: Battlegrounds developer Crafton has announced its update 15.2, which brings drones to the popular battle royale game. The update has entered the public test servers and will arrive on the live servers next week. The new update adds a bunch of tactical gear in addition to drones and a new tutorial mode.

PUBG: Battlegrounds also has some improvements for Win94 and VSS rifles. Crafton has also improved how the mini-map looks in the game, making it more detailed. Apart from this, the battle royale title also gets a new lobby theme.

What is the tactical drone?

A drone is a piece of tactical gear that allows players to safely explore long distances and even pick up an item without the threat of direct combat. Drones are visible on all maps. Normal matches, custom games, training modes, and sandbox modes all feature drones.

After looting and equipping the drone, players can hold the drone tablet in their hands. Drone View can then be toggled on and off by players.

Features of the drone

When players open Drone View, the drone takes off in the sky. When a drone takes off, it makes a noise and has a distinctive flashing light. A deployed drone is identified by a distinct drone icon on both the map and the minimap.

Player characters stop moving and lose control of their bodies as they fly through the drone’s perspective in Drone View. If players exit Drone View, the drone will remain in its current position.

A drone in flight can be recalled by players. When a recall is in progress, the drone will attempt to return in a straight line to the location where the player recalled.

The drone returns to where it was originally recalled by the player. If the player attempts to use the Drone Tablet during the recall, the recall will end. If the player re-uses the recall function while the recall is in progress, the recall will end. When recalled, the drone cannot avoid obstacles or pass through solid objects.

The drone has a huge range of 300 meters in which players must stay indoors while flying the drone. When the drone is within 90 meters of its maximum range, it will alert players with a warning message and a stationary screen.

If the drone escapes its operational range, it will be destroyed and players must locate and repair the drone before it can be used again. The maximum HP of the drone is 35 and it can be damaged in a number of ways.
