So many developments, so little time. Which potential future of Eevee shines brightest?
Always a popular Pokémon, Eevee is a favorite of many trainers due to its plethora of evolutions. Eevee, along with its three original developments, was first introduced in Gen 1 games.
The second, fourth and sixth generations each brought new “evolutions” to the table. It’s been years since Sylvain perfected the eight-pack, but there’s always a chance for us to see more of a ninth one day.
1. Espeon
The second Evolution, introduced in Johto (and featured in Pokemon Colosseum), follows the Aspen classic Alkazam/Mewtwo stat distribution with strong speed and excellent special attack.
Fortunately, most of its moves are indirect, easily reaching its best, and Espeon users get a taste of how its Future Sight technology has been enhanced over the years.
Like Ambreon, it has the ability to synchronize solid, punishing enemies for using condition debuffs. A strong unit, but some powerful non-psychic indirect moves will help against psychic-immune Dark Pokémon, and Aspen’s low HP and defense gives it a glass cannon.
2. Leafeon
As with most Eeveelutions, there are better grass options than Leafion available, such as Tangrowth and RoseRed.
It’s still one of the top non-legendary grass-types, and has solid attack and defense stats. Leafion also shows the ability in Master League, where it can take down any Pokémon with a weakness for grass-type moves. However, it won’t last long against most other opponents, so definitely don’t count on it.
3. Umbreon
Defensively, Umbrella is the best Evolution. Aesthetically, it’s arguably a joint-first. Conceptually, it misses out on the gold for just one ‘mon’ which you can probably guess by now entirely due to the omission process.
Before we get to Eevee’s coolest older sibling, it’s worth noting that Ambrane also placed second on our list of the best dark Pokémon.
It’s a wall-building machine, has an incredibly shiny sprite, and more flair than at least 99% of all other Pokémon currently out there. It’s just not quite number one.
4. Jolteon
Like its Kanto brethren, Jolteon possesses a tremendous ability, Volt Absorb, providing an advantage only if your opponent is unaware enough to strike with an electric attack. However, Electric lures defensively, being vulnerable to only one trait as opposed to three.

Additionally, Joleton knows exactly what he wants: hit hard and hit fast. It makes good use of a great speed and strong special attack, before they can take advantage of their low defenses.
Jolteon also learns some erratic moves to expand its repertoire, such as the bug-type pin missile, but unfortunately, many of its attacks are physical rather than indirect; You have to get to the upper thirties before you can get any qualified non-contact electric strikes.
5. Glaceon
Coming in second on the list of best Evolutions to use in Pokémon Go is Ice-Type, Gleason.
Originally introduced in Generation IV, this evolution from Eevee might not be the best Ice-type mon in Pokémon Go overall, but it could harness the power of some very useful moves in the game.
The best moveset for Glaceon is one that takes advantage of the Same-Type Attack Bonus, or STAB. A Glacien who knows frost breath and avalanche moves will make for an extremely useful team member.

1 Raise Eevee’s Friendship to a high level then press ‘Evolve’ while it knows a Fairy-type move to evolve it into Fairy-type Sylveon.
2 Raise Eevee’s Friendship to a high level then press ‘Evolve’ during the day to evolve into Psychic-type Espeon.
