Don’t worry, this isn’t one of those ‘To be a real gamer, you have to do X’ types of articles. We just thought of a few games that we think every gamer should try at least once – they are all unique in some way.
Obviously you don’t have to, but we think – whether you enjoy them or not – that you’ll get something out of the experience… even if it’s just a Steam/PlayStation/Xbox achievement.
1. Salt and Sacrifice
The highly anticipated sequel to Salt and Sanctuary is great when it rests on what its predecessor was good at – as you explore a large environment you go up against a variety of enemies in short succession.
We’re just not entirely sure how we feel about chasing boss enemies around large levels, where they can support and turn anywhere at any point.
This is great if you’re looking for a challenge, but it can also be overly frustrating, as you can’t really deal with sheer skill with this level of randomization, Salt and Sacrifice is still a great game to play It’s easy to watch, atmospheric, and easy to play, but the main difference between Salt and Sanctuary is what makes it different, it can take some time to get used to it.
2. Little Nightmares 2
Little Nightmare 2 not only elicits explosive emotions with its challenging levels (there’s nothing more frustrating than failing to escape a monster by a razor-thin margin), but it also scares you away with scream-inducing jumps and a smidge. Exciting chases. Parkour requires expertise.
With a heart-wrenching “Oh, no!” Moments of repeating levels a billion times, the Bandai Namco-published IP had me on the verge of tears more than I wanted to admit.
Little Nightmares 2 is an infuriating game, but once you finally evade that relentless foe without dying for the fifteenth time, an ecstatic rush of fulfillment takes over and neutralizes the hopeless fury By which you want to flip a table. Little Nightmares 2 is like a toxic relationship; It drags you through a turbulent rollercoaster of emotions, but you’re not ready to jump because it’s so thrilling.
3. God of War
God of War as a series has been around since 2005. 4. Death Stranding
Death Stranding stunned PlayStation 4 owners who were quite unprepared for a plot trying to piece together a broken world of extinction, isolation, mortality, and the remains of humanity.
The controversial console game is now a PC game with enhanced game graphics, platform-specific Half-Life themed missions, and a photo mode. Taking gameplay cues from the action, stealth and survival genres, Death Stranding is a more adventurous affair than the typical mainstream video game title.
After all, not many games have a delivery person who fights a flying whale one minute, and then discusses the next life with Guillermo del Toro. It’s a weird, slow burn.
5. Guilty Gear Strive
The latest installment in the busy 2D fighting series is also at its most accessible. Whether it’s detailed tutorials, missions and training options to help you learn moves and combinations, or in-depth vocabulary and learning resources to help
you speed up the story, GG Strive gives you every opportunity to immerse yourself. gives a chance. While the game’s story mode is worth your time if you’re a fan of anime action, the heart of the game is its one-on-one combat.
All characters have an arsenal of flashy and devastating moves, but it’s up to you how to tie them together and best your opponent. Mix in dramatic moments like aerial combos, wall breaks and stage transitions and every fight looks epic, even if you’re not an expert.
