PUBG Mobile, the mobile port of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, is a hugely popular open-world survival shooter game that is available for free on Android and iOS. It has been one of our favorite multiplayer games on Gadgets 360 and now, with the entire country in lockdown, there is no better way to spend time than with a few rounds of PUBG Mobile every day.
In fact, we’ve even recommended it among our favorite multiplayer games to find out if you’re stuck at home with nothing to do.
1. Select Right Graphics Quality
Knowing the limits of your phone is also important. PUBG Mobile is a graphics intensive game so if you are using an affordable phone and the graphics are set to HD or HDR and the frame rate is set to High or Ultra then you will notice a lot of lag or frame drops. So choose the graphics setting according to you.
To do this tap on the Settings icon > Graphics. Also, you are advised to keep Auto Adjust Graphics on, which automatically lowers the graphics setting in case of performance degradation.
2. Headphones are a must
PUBG Mobile is much more than just bullets and explosions. You need to be very careful of the enemies lurking around you, especially those who are in the camp. Having a good pair of headphones ensures that you can hear enemies approaching you on foot or in vehicles.
Using headphones can also help you get a fair idea of gunfire fired nearby so that you can be alert to a possible impending attack. Also, headphones are a must if you are playing games with your friends for effective communication.
3. Play the edge of the circle
Once you start hitting the late game, different strategies start to come into play. What should keep you alive is to play to the edge of the circle and run with it. Living on the edge means that the area you need to be aware of is greatly reduced.
You know that a large part of what’s behind you is completely safe, so all you need to know is what’s in front of you. If you are in the middle, you have to keep an eye on all sides, which is not an easy task.
4. Pick Your Fights
The biggest part of surviving in PUBG is knowing when to fight – that, and being aware of your surroundings. If someone is shooting at you from afar, it’s better to run for cover than try to fight. On the other hand, there is no point in taking a dig at someone using a gun without sufficient range. At 200m a SMG is useless. It is also worth remembering that every shot can be heard from quite a distance, revealing your position.
If you have surround-sound headphones or use Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos for spatial audio, you’ll make the most of them in PUBG because it will help you point distant bullets. Of course, the choice is ultimately up to you to rush to action or solve it yourself.
5. The mini-map is your friend
This tip only applies as long as you’re uncomfortable going to the fringe areas on the edges of the map, but keep this in your mind after all: Land closer to the center of the map. We’re not asking to land directly in the center – dead center tends to capture busy sites that host early firefighters – but find a spot in the middle of the map and land there consistently.
Being close to the center means you have a good chance of being in or near a safe area, so you won’t have to worry about hoisting it onto a large map to keep playing. It keeps you stocked up, slows things down, and ultimately charges into victory.
6. Shoot enemies within range
Another survival strategy is to fire only when an enemy is in range. If you shoot at an enemy that is not within your range, you will waste your ammunition. You will also tell your exact location to other players. That way, the squad will be able to ambush you.
One grenade will be enough for the pros to wipe out your entire squad if you’ve left your spot. Firing at the enemy within range will help you inflict more damage and capture a kill immediately.
You will also be able to counter the onslaught of opponents safely. If the enemy is not within your range and you miss your target, they can easily target you because you have already given your space.
7. Controls
You might not be a beginner in shooter and action games. However, it takes a while to get used to the controls of PUBG Mobile. Take your time figuring out the controls and camera sensitivity. You often have to take quick action to survive, and the slow movement of the camera shouldn’t be the cause of your character’s death.
Tinker with the controls to see what suits your style of play better. The main goal is to find the most comfortable control scheme to play to your full potential. The clunky controls will only hinder your experience with the game.
