The Witcher Season 3 Set Photos Reveal Henry Cavill In Major Sword Fight

Witcher-focused fan site Radanian Intelligence reported that the Netflix series had filmed a duel between Geralt of Rivia, played by Henry Cavill, and Vilgefortz of Roggewen, played by Mahesh Jadu.

The ancient organization was completely dissolved soon after the meeting of Vilgefortz and Geralt, in what became known as the Thaned coup.

One of the reasons why the fight between Geralt and Vilgefortz is so important is that not only did it reveal a little more of each sect's motivations and allegiances, but it also presented readers with the first true defeat of Geralt of Rivia.

The witch greatly underestimated Vilgefortz's skills as a warrior and a mage and was mortally wounded.

In fact, his thigh and elbow were essentially shattered, leaving him with permanent pain that hindered his walking, even though he was suffering from dryads.

Showrunner Lauren S.  Hissrich reassured viewers in 2020 that his injuries from the novels would be reflected in the Netflix series, where other adaptations, including CD Projekt Red's video game, omitted it.

When a fan explained the injury's importance, Hissrich explained, "I've read these books a dozen times, these specific sections, and I've not thought of it further than: 'Geralt has some pain, onto the next thing.

The series has performed well with critics in its first two seasons and has been a ratings hit, spawning a franchise on streaming platforms including the animated spinoff The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

Filming on The Witcher Season 3 began in April and now fans of the series are getting an exciting tease of the next chapter of the show.
