The best RPGs of 2022: the most anticipated role-playing games

Defining RPG in 2022 is no easy feat.  As games become more elaborate than ever, elements from all kinds of other genres have seeped into it, muddying the waters that define an RPG in the first place.

While that isn't necessarily a bad thing, it does mean that despite so many RPGs coming out in a single year, they all feel different and interesting.

What separates a good RPG from a great one is the depth of the overall experience.  XP, skill trees, and weapon upgrades are all well and good, but boundaries need to be pushed to make a game stand out from the pack.
