The poison-type Pokémon in Pokémon Go have been somewhat fancier than their main series counterparts.  Without the ability to poison his opponents with status effects, his combat ability is somewhat reduced.

Despite Poison-type hits in Pokémon Go, there are still many Pokémon worth using in battle that are at least partially Poison-type.  Niantic's regular updates change the game's combat meta every now and then, but the top Poison-type fighters have been pretty consistent for a while.

5) Shadow Venusaur

Both Venusaur and its Shadow Pokemon form are formidable grass/poison-types in the mobile title.  However, if players aim to deal pure damage, then using Shadow Venusaur is preferred.  It loses some of its token durability but gains a damage output bonus to compensate.

Despite Roserage not appearing frequently in the mainline Pokémon series, the Pokémon is a powerful Grass/Poison-type fighter.  It is one of the highest-powered attackers in PvE situations and can hold its own in Great and Ultra League PvP as well.

3) Mega Beedrill

One of the mobile titles' first Mega Evolution, Mega Beedrill, is a bug/poison-type Pokémon with a dangerously high maximum attack status.  However, as a partial bug-type, it's not at best robust against inflicting damage on its own.

1) Mega Gengar

One of the greatest attackers in any Pokémon Go Raid, Mega Gengar has one of the highest attack stats in the entire game.  It also has a variety of excellent move options.

However, its dual ghost/poison typing also allows it to use powerful moves like the Shadow Claw and the Shadow Ball.  Mega Gengar deals the most damage per second in Pokémon Go, and that can't change for quite some time.
