Best-selling RPGs of all time
These RPGS are the best sellers of all time. Did your favorites make the list? The beauty of video games is at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what type of player you are, there will always be something you’ll love.
Be it shooters, puzzles, life simulators, games, or exploration, the options are limitless in a rapidly growing industry. Of the major genre themes available, one of the most popular among fans is role playing.
1. Pokemon Gold And Silver
In 1999 amid the widespread panic of Y2K, Nintendo released Pokémon Gold and Silver. Although there are no direct sequels in the same series as Final Fantasy, there were a number of reasons why Gold and Silver felt alike in Red and Blue.

After completing the Johto area, you can travel red and blue back to the Kanto area. It was incredible to be able to challenge the old gym leaders again, but it was even more mind-boggling to fight the old hero Red.
The addition of the Kanto region paid off heavily for Nintendo in both a commercial and important sense.
Not only have the gold and silver sold over 23 million copies, but it has also been heavily debated whether they are the best in the franchise. Regardless, Gold and Silver were exceptional follow-up titles to the two classics.
2. Dragon Quest
JRPGs can give their birth to Dragon Quest. Inspired by Ultima and Wizardry, Dragon Quest turned into an instant success in the Land of the Rising Sun a century ago.

The first title in the series sold 2 million copies worldwide, of which 1.5 million units were sold in Japan. The numbers were impressive, and Dragon Quest became an instant success overseas, but it wasn’t until Dragon Quest VIII that the series experienced any measurable success in the West.
Nevertheless, the success of the series prompted Squaresoft to give Final Fantasy the green light, and Square’s series would eventually find Western success to take on Dragon Quest in worldwide sales.
Dragon Quest remains a strong title today with 11 main entries and 83 million units (of all titles including side games).
3. Terraria
Since its launch in 2011, the action-adventure sandbox Terraria has received overwhelming support, selling millions of copies worldwide.

In fact, as of March 2021, it has surpassed 35 million copies sold, making it one of the best-selling games of all time. Many of its sales are attributed to PC, with at least 14 million copies sold on that platform.
And even with the ability to integrate Terraria Mode into the gameplay, it’s still worth playing on PC. Its developer, Re-Logic, recently released the game’s final expansion, titled Journey’s End, and now plans to roll out some new work. Will it be as successful as Terraria? We will see.
4. Dark Souls III
With Dark Souls III, developer From Software returns to the Souls series after crafting the old madness, the PlayStation 4-exclusive Bloodborne.

In fact, Dark Souls III borrows gameplay and design elements from Bloodborne and other software action-RPG titles. As a result, Dark Souls III has an action-focused flavor and gorgeous, haunting graphics.
That said, Dark Souls III has its own feel, especially when it comes to battling monsters. Improved combat mechanics add more fighting depth, making skirmishes more challenging and rewarding.
5. EVE Online
Calling EVE Online epic doesn’t really do it justice. This long-lasting MMO features thousands of star systems that you can explore at your leisure (until space pirates show up and explode to oblivion you).

It features a universe for players to explore and a basic set of gameplay systems. What you do with it is up to you, thanks to open-ended gameplay that rewards creativity and collaboration.
You can join up with other players and participate in multi-day space battles, or you can lock up resources to sell for a profit on the next space station. If you want to fly thousands of dollars in real life while building a city-sized space ship, you can do that too. The universe is your oyster.
